St Paul’s RC Primary School extension, in collaboration with West Lothian Council marks another significant project in the education sector.
St Paul’s RC Primary School Extension, located in East Calder, now stands as a modern educational facility, designed to meet the growing demands of the rapidly expanding Calderwood development area.
This £5.2 million development encompasses a new purpose-built 64-place nursery, an enlarged multi-purpose hall, and a new main entrance with support accommodation. The 600m² extension complements the existing school building whilst providing essential additional space.
The project required careful planning and phasing, as the school remained operational throughout construction. Our team’s methodical approach, with carefully considered arrangements for vehicle and pedestrian access, minimised disruption to daily school activities.
Upon completion, the internal transformation included converting the previous nursery room into a classroom, alongside modernising the existing kitchen, WCs and circulation spaces. The external works delivered a new car park to the south of the site, enhanced security fencing, dedicated nursery play areas and a new grass pitch.
Fleming’s in-house expertise played a crucial role in managing the complexities of working within a live school environment, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality were maintained throughout the build.
The completed project now provides St Paul’s with modern, fit-for-purpose facilities that will serve the East Calder community for generations to come, supporting West Lothian Council’s commitment to delivering high-quality learning environments for young people.
