We recently completed the ground floor redesign of the Buchanan Centre in Coatbridge, working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council to improve the layout and functionality of the space.

The Buchanan Centre is a key hub for the local community, housing council services, a library, a health centre, and a dental practice. With the building in constant use, the project required careful planning to ensure that services remained fully operational. The ground floor houses the library, first stop shop, social work and criminal justice departments, all which remained open to staff and the public throughout the works.

The works involved reconfiguring the ground floor layout to create additional office space, alongside upgrading the mechanical and electrical systems to suit the new design. By taking a phased approach to construction, we were able to minimise disruption and keep everything running smoothly while the work was carried out. Due to the sensitive nature of the services, extremely close liaison and communication between the site manager and key personnel was essential.

The result is a more efficient, modern, and functional space, ensuring that staff have the facilities they need while maintaining a welcoming and accessible environment for the public.

This project is a great example of how careful planning and collaboration can deliver significant improvements without disrupting essential services.
